Know the Importance of Routine Roof Inspections

Modern commercial roofs are designed to provide low maintenance, durable protection against the elements.  But while they typically can last 10 years or more with minimal intervention, it is always a good idea to perform routine inspections.  Out of sight, out of mind may be the typical approach until things go wrong but catching problems early saves time, money, and aggravation down the road.  Often the first indication of trouble is a significant leak that damages property, but there are more subtle warning signs to look for when inspecting your roof.

A good rule of thumb is to perform a visual roof inspection at least twice a year, but also immediately following severe weather events that may have exposed the building exterior to heavy precipitation, hail, high winds, and damaging debris.  Signs of roof damage to look for include the following:

  • Missing sections of roofing material
  • Blisters or bubbles forming under roofing material, indicating potential water penetration
  • Standing pools of water, possibly indicating drainage issues
  • Mold, mildew, and moss, indicating excess moisture buildup
  • Cracks, blistering, peeling, and curling of roof membrane materials

Performing a do-it-yourself cursory inspection is a good place to start, but you may want to consider hiring a professional roofing contractor to perform a more detailed inspection.  Early detection of roof damage and degradation can prevent bigger problems down the road, but even if your roof develops significant leaks it doesn’t necessarily mean that you must replace the entire roof.  In many cases, a roof restoration can address your needs while avoiding the hassle of a costly and disruptive roof tear off and full replacement.  Everest Systems specializes in providing high performance, cost effective roof restoration systems that will perform better than your original roof performed when brand new.  Our systems are lightweight, watertight, UV resistant, breathable, and durable.  And by cutting surface temperatures by up to 80 degrees, Everest composite technology all but eliminates harmful expansion and contraction.

Everest Systems’ high-performance acrylic and silicone fluid membranes are designed to last for warranty periods of up to 20 years.  At Everest Systems, we offer Fluid Applied Membranes engineered for performance with the specific substrate and building owner needs in mind. Once installed, your new Everest Roof System will be a seamless membrane that is energy efficient, long lasting and renewable.  We count our clients and certified contractors as partners with Everest Systems. We believe in forging strong relationships between our clients and our certified contractors, addressing clients’ specific roofing needs with our knowledge, expertise, and quality Everest Systems products.
